Trusted marketing partner for Loch Lomond businesses and organisations

I’m based in Drymen, Loch Lomond — and I’ve worked with businesses, charities and tourism organisations across this area for over 16 years.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs is one of Scotland’s most visited and most competitive tourism destinations. The businesses and organisations that succeed here are those that communicate clearly, present themselves professionally, and build a genuine connection with their audience — whether that’s visitors planning a first trip, guests returning year after year, or funders and partners investing in the area’s future.

That’s where I come in. Not as an outside consultant parachuted in with generic advice, but as a trusted marketing partner who knows this area as well as anyone — its landscape, its businesses, its communities, its visitors, and how all of them connect.

Rooted in Loch Lomond — See Loch Lomond

Alongside my client work, I run See Loch Lomond — a visitor guide website featuring photography, itineraries, trail guides and local insight into Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The platform has attracted over two million visits and provides me with a direct, sustained understanding of how people search for, plan, and experience the area.

I know which searches bring visitors here, what questions they ask before they arrive, what content they find useful, and what makes them choose one business or experience over another. Everything I learn from running See Loch Lomond informs the marketing work I do for local businesses — particularly in tourism, hospitality, and place-based projects.

Loch Lomond clients and partnerships

Over the years, I have worked for just about all of the major Loch Lomond businesses and organisations. The Oak Tree Inn in Balmaha was one of my very first clients — and over a dozen years later, it remains one of my most complete and rewarding local partnerships.

Located on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond, The Oak Tree Inn has grown from a well-known pub, restaurant and B&B into a multi-site hospitality and food and drink group — now including St Mocha Coffee Shop, Loch Lomond Coffee Co., a village shop and the Hunt the Haggis walking trail.

My role throughout has combined marketing consultancy, photography, video, PR, award submissions and grant applications — keeping the business visible, consistent and well-presented as it has grown.

A significant milestone was the Balmaha Experience campaign — a destination marketing initiative promoting East Loch Lomond as a place to spend more time. As part of that campaign, I helped organise Balmaha’s Braw Weekend, a community and visitor event that attracted over 10,000 people and significantly raised Balmaha’s profile as a destination. More recently, the work has focused on digital infrastructure — designing and maintaining websites for the group, including The Oak Tree Inn, St Mocha Coffee Shop, Loch Lomond Coffee Co. and Conic Group.

“I can’t recommend Paul’s services highly enough. Always very responsive, courteous, and a great eye for detail. Paul’s knowledge and expertise have really helped drive our business forward, and the websites he created have become an invaluable tool.” — Steven Dobbin, The Conic Group, Balmaha

Cruise Loch Lomond

A long-standing partnership with Cruise Loch Lomond — operators of a fleet of vessels offering scenic cruises and waterbus services across Loch Lomond.

I’ve provided photography, video and promotional content over many years — work appearing in travel trade brochures, social media campaigns and international marketing. Drone filming has been particularly effective, and one image showing the entire fleet lined up across one of the loch's widest points has become an iconic part of their marketing.

“Paul has consistently produced quality material that has been used in marketing campaigns to promote the company to travel trade clients, day-trippers and holidaymakers.” — Stuart Cordner, Cruise Loch Lomond

Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs

One of the most meaningful partnerships of my career. I’ve worked with this conservation and heritage charity since 2010 — through video production, photography, PR, school engagement projects and a major website redevelopment delivered entirely at no cost. I was invited to join the charity as a volunteer trustee in 2017, a role I held for six years. My business has also donated free access to my photographic library, volunteer time, and a share of profits from my guidebook, 101 Things to Do in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, directly to the charity.

Understanding Loch Lomond as a market

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs is a competitive, seasonal and distinctive market. Visitors have high expectations and respond to authenticity and a genuine sense of place far more than polished generic content.

Marketing here requires someone who understands the area not just as a destination but as a living, working community — its businesses, its people, its landscape and its rhythms across the year. That understanding is what I bring to every project here, and it can’t be replicated.

Working together

I’m always keen to work with Loch Lomond businesses and charities who want clearer, more effective marketing — and a trusted partner who takes responsibility for delivering it.

Not more noise. Not more disconnected activity. Just better thinking, better delivery, and one person you can rely on.
